Cerita 1

The Goose with the Golden Eggs

Once upon a time, a man and his wife had the good fortune to have a goose which laid a golden egg every day. Lucky though they were, they soon began to think they were not getting rich fast enough.

They imagined that if the bird must be able to lay golden eggs, its insides must be made of gold. And they thought that if they could get all that precious metal at once, they would get mighty rich very soon. So the man and his wife decided to kill the bird.

However, upon cutting the goose open, they were shocked to find that its innards were like that of any other goose!

Suatu hari, seorang pria dan istrinya memiliki nasib baik untuk memiliki angsa yang menetaskan  telur emas setiap hari. Beruntung meskipun mereka, mereka segera berpikir mereka tidak cukup cepat kaya.

Cerita 2

The Ant and the Dove

One hot day, an ant was searching for some water. After walking around for some time, she came to a spring. To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell into the water.

She could have drowned if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly plucked off a leaf and dropped it into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up there. Soon it carried her safely to dry ground. Just at that time, a hunter nearby was throwing out his net towards the dove, hoping to trap it.

Guessing what he was about to do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net. The dove was quick to fly away to safety.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

In a field one summer’s day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart’s content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great effort an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

“Why not come and chat with me,” said the Grasshopper, “instead of toiling and moiling away?” “I am helping to lay up food for the winter,” said the Ant, “and recommend you to do the same.” “Why bother about winter?” said the Grasshopper; “we have got plenty of food at present.”

But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.

Then the Grasshopper knew.

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful Princess named Rose. She had long, wavy and shiny golden red hair! She was named perfectly as she loved and adored the roses. She had one glowing golden bird who will visit her in the evenings.

The princess and the golden bird will sing mesmerizing song, where all people in the kingdom peacefully sleep with sweet dreams. The bird will begin making the sounds seeing the beautiful hair of the princess and she will join with the bird. Both of them used to sing lullaby to make people sleep and keep singing the lullabies until sun rise.

While people lived peacefully, a wicked witch came to know about the golden bird and the hair color of the princess rose. She cursed the princess and her hair turned ugly black!

As usual, the bird started singing seeing the black hair of the princess and she continued. While people fell asleep, none of them had sweet dreams; rather they were terrible and fearful. Princess heard about the nightmare dreams and was so worried!

She asked the golden bird what she should do to turn her hair red. The bird asked her to dip her hair in rose water and she did. Surprisingly, the hair turned beautiful red with the usual glow. Undoubtedly, everyone fell asleep hearing the lullaby and had sweet dreams. Knowing this, the witch cursed again and now removed all rose flowers and petals from the kingdom.

The Greedy Mouse

A greedy mouse saw a basket full of corn. He wanted to eat it. So he made a small hole in the basket. He squeezed in through the hole. He ate a lot of corn. He felt full. He was very happy.

Now he wanted to come out. He tried to come out through the small hole. He could not. His belly was full. He tried again. But it was of no use.

The mouse started crying. A rabbit was passing by. It heard the mouse’s cry and asked: “Why are you crying my friend?”

The mouse explained: “I made a small hole and came into the basket. Now I am not able to get out through that hole.”

The rabbit said: “It is because you ate too much. Wait til your belly shrinks”. The rabbit laughed and went away.

The mouse fell asleep in the basket. Next morning his belly had shrunk. But the mouse wanted to eat some corn. So he ate and ate. His belly was full once again. He thought: “Oh! Now I will go out tomorrow”.

The cat was the next passerby. He smelt the mouse in the basket. He lifted its lid. He ate the mouse.

Kelinci berkata: “ini adalah karenakamu makan terlalu banyak. Tunggulah perut mu menyusut”. Kelinci tertawa dan pergi.

Tikus serakah  tertidur di dalam keranjang. Keesokan paginya perutnya telah menyusut. Tapi tikus ingin makan jagung beberapa. Jadi ia makan dan makan. Perutnya itu penuh sekali lagi. Dia berpikir: “Oh! Sekarang aku akan pergi besok”.

Kucing lah yang berikutnya lewat. Dia mencium bau tikus di dalam keranjang. Ia mengangkat tutupnya. ia makan tikus tersebut.

Cerita 6

Friends

Bunny rabbit lived in the forest. He had many friends. He was proud of his friends.

One day Bunny rabbit heard the loud barking of the wild dogs. He was very scared. He decided to ask for help. He quickly went to his friend deer. He said: “Dear friend, some wild dogs are chasing me. Can you chase them away with your sharp antlers?” Dear said: “That is right, I can. But now I am busy. Why don’t you ask bear for help?”

Bunny rabbit ran to the bear. “My dear friend you are very strong, please help me. Some wild dogs are after me. Please chase them away,” he requested the bear.

Bear replied: “I am sorry. I am hungry and tired. I need to find some food. Please ask the monkey for help”.

Poor Bunny went to the monkey, elephant, goat and all his friends. Bunny felt sad that nobody was ready to help him.

Dia berkata: “rusa, beberapa anjing liar mengejar saya. Dapatkah kamu mengejar mereka pergi dengan tanduk tajam mu?” rusa berkata: “itu benar, saya bisa. Tapi sekarang aku sibuk. Mengapa kamu tidak meminta bantuan beruang?

Kelinci berlari ke beruang. “ teman ku yang sangat kuat, tolong bantu saya. Beberapa anjing liar mengejar ku. aku Harap kamu mengejar mereka pergi,”ia meminta beruang.

Beruang menjawab: “saya minta maaf. Saya lapar dan lelah. saya perlu untuk mencari beberapa makanan. Silakan meminta bantuan monyet “.

Kelinci miskin pergi ke monyet, gajah, kambing dan semua teman–temannya. Kelinci merasa sedih bahwa tidak ada yang siap untuk membantunya.

Dia mengerti bahwa ia harus memikirkan jalan keluar. Ia bersembunyi di bawah rerimbunan. Dia berbaring selama anjing liar mengikutinya.

Cerita 7

The Hungry Mouse

A mouse was having a very thought time. She had no food for many days and made strenuous efforts get her food. All her efforts went in vain. She looked everywhere to find her food. As the days pass by, she became very thin.

One day, the mouse found a basket with corns. She also noticed a tiny hole in the basket, which was sufficient enough to move her in. She easily moved inside the hole.

Since she had no foods for many days, she ate a large amount of corn. Without realizing her, she continuously ate more and more corns. She realized very later that she ate a lot more than she actually required. After eating a whole lot of corn, she became very fat!

Satisfied with corns, the fat mouse tried to come out of the basket through the small hole. Unfortunately, the tiny hole could not accommodate the big mouse!!!!

The mouse started screaming ‘Oh god! Let me come out, how can I come out?’

A rat after hearing mouse’s screaming voice from the basket, asked her what happened!

Mouse told the story and asked rat a solution.

Rat told, ‘if you want to come out the basket, wait for sometime or even days to lose your all your fat until you grow thin.’

Mouse started to starve now but with lots of food to come out of the trap!

Anything too much is good for nothing!

Tikus sedang sangat berfikir. Dia tidak punya makanan selama beberapa hari dan melakukan upaya yang berat mendapatkan makanan nya. Semua upaya pergi sia-sia. Dia tampak di mana-mana untuk menemukan makanan. Seperti hari-hari berlalu, ia menjadi sangat tipis.

Suatu hari, tikus menemukan sebuah keranjang dengan jagung. Ia juga melihat lubang kecil di keranjang, yang cukup untuk bergerak dia dalam. Dia dengan mudah bergerak di dalam lubang.

Karena ia tidak makanan selama beberapa hari, dia makan sejumlah besar jagung. Tanpa menyadari , dia terus makan jagung lebih dan lebih. Dia kemudian menyadari bahwa dia makan lebih banyak daripada yang dia diperlukan. Setelah makan seluruh  jagung, ia menjadi sangat gemuk!

Puas dengan jagung, tikus mencoba untuk keluar dari keranjang melalui lubang kecil. Sayangnya, lubang kecil tidak bisa mengakomodasi tikus besar!

Tikus mendengar suara tikus lain berteriak dari keranjang, bertanya apa yang terjadi!

Cerita 8

The Fox and the Grapes

One afternoon a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging from over a lofty branch. “Just the thing to quench my thirst,” quoted the fox.

Taking a few steps back, the fox jumped and just missed the hanging grapes. Again the fox took a few paces back and tried to reach them but still failed.

Finally, giving up, the fox turned up his nose and said, “They’re probably sour anyway,” and proceeded to walk away.

The Lion and the Mouse

Once when a lion, the king of the jungle, was asleep, a little mouse began running up and down on him. This soon awakened the lion, who placed his huge paw on the mouse, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.

“Pardon, O King!” cried the little Mouse, “Forgive me this time. I shall never repeat it and I shall never forget your kindness. And who knows, I may be able to do you a good turn one of these days!”

The Lion was so tickled by the idea of the mouse being able to help him that he lifted his paw and let him go.

Sometime later, a few hunters captured the lion, and tied him to a tree. After that they went in search of a wagon, to take him to the zoo.

Just then the little mouse happened to pass by. On seeing the lion’s plight, he ran up to him and gnawed away the ropes that bound him, the king of the jungle.

“Was I not right?” said the little mouse, very happy to help the lion.

Cerita 10

The Monkey and the Crocodile

It was a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green grasses, beautiful trees, mountains and sweetest, tastiest jamun trees. There lived a monkey on one of the jamun trees located near the lake.

The lake also had a few crocodiles. There was one crocodile that used to collect the jamun fruits from the lake that fall from the tree.

As the crocodile visits the jamun trees every day, it became friends with Monkey. Crocodile and monkey met every day. The monkey helped crocodile by providing more and fresh jamun fruits from the tree. Their relationship continued and they became close pals.

One day, the monkey asked the crocodile to give some jamun fruits to his wife and family as the fruits were more delicious. The crocodile agreed and took a lot of jamun fruits to his wife.

His wife was so happy and surprised that she never ate so delicious fruits, so far. She inquired her husband, where he got those fruits. The crocodile told her, his friend, monkey who lives in a Jamun tree gave these for him.

The wife crocodile made a plan in her mind. She asked her husband, ‘Does your friend eat these fruits every day?’ The crocodile replied yes. She added, ‘Oh my goodness. These are the sweetest fruits we ever ate. Imagine how delicious the monkey’s heart would be if he eat these fruits daily! I need the heart of your friend. Can you please bring it for me?’

The crocodile was shocked to hear it from his wife. He replied, ‘But he is my close friend. I can’t do this to him.’

The wife crocodile told him, ‘don’t worry. You bring him here. I will then take care! Or else, you may try to push him down into the water if he doesn’t know swimming!’

After a long time, the crocodile agreed to bring monkey to his wife.

The very next day, crocodile invited monkey to join them for lunch and asked for his favorite foods. Monkey happily agreed to be the guest and but worried that the monkey did not know how to swim in the lake.

Crocodile on thinking about monkey’s sorrow, pleased monkey and told him, ‘Don’t worry. I will carry you on my back and will take you back safely too!’

The monkey accepted and crocodile rode him to his home on his back on the water. As they reached half way, the crocodile tried to push monkey down into the water. However, monkey held the crocodile tightly and did not fall. Monkey got suspicious about crocodile’s act and asked him to tell the truth.

Since crocodile believed him as his good friend, he told about the conversation and the fight his wife had with him and he was taking monkey to eat his heart!

The intelligent monkey said, ‘Oh my dear friend, you should have told me this earlier. I left my heart on one of the branches of the tree as I won’t carry it if I travel long. If you take me back, I can give you my heart.’

Crocodile accepted and rode the monkey back to the lake. As they reached the tree where the monkey lived, the monkey climbed quickly and escaped from the crocodile.

He shouted at crocodile, ‘I thought you as a good friend, but you cheated me. I will never come back and never be your friend.’

The crocodile understood his mistake and returned back home empty handed, losing a good friend indeed.

Itu adalah sebuah danau yang indah, dikelilingi oleh rumput hijau yang subur, pohon-pohon yang indah, gunung dan POHON jamun manis, paling lezat. Hiduplah monyet di salah satu pohon jamun terletak di dekat Danau.

Danau ini juga memiliki beberapa buaya. Ada satu buaya yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan buah-buahan jamun dari danau yang jatuh dari pohon.

Seperti buaya Mengunjungi pohon jamun setiap hari, itu menjadi teman dengan monyet. Buaya dan monyet bertemu setiap hari. Monyet membantu buaya dengan menyediakan lebih banyak dan segar jamun buah dari pohon. Hubungan mereka berlanjut dan mereka menjadi teman-teman dekat.

Istri nya begitu bahagia dan terkejut bahwa ia tidak pernah makan buah-buahan begitu lezat, sejauh ini. Dia bertanya suaminya, di mana ia mendapat buah-buah itu. Buaya mengatakan dia, teman, monyet yang tinggal di sebuah pohon Jamun memberikan ini untuknya.

Istri buaya membuat rencana dalam pikirannya. Dia bertanya kepada suaminya, ‘Apakah teman Anda makan buah-buahan ini setiap hari?’ Buaya menjawab ya. Ia menambahkan, ‘ Oh Ya ampun. Ini adalah buah-buahan manis yang pernah kita makan. Bayangkan bagaimana lezat jantung monyet jika ia makan buah-buahan ini setiap hari! Aku butuh jantung teman Anda. Dapat Anda silakan membawa itu bagi saya?’

Buaya terkejut mendengar dari istrinya. Ia menjawab, ‘ tapi dia teman dekat saya. aku tidak dapat melakukan ini kepadanya.’

Istri buaya berkata kepadanya, ‘ jangan khawatir. Anda membawa dia di sini. Saya mengambil kendali! Atau, Anda dapat mencoba untuk mendorong dia ke air jika ia tidak tahu kolam!’

Setelah waktu yang lama, buaya sepakat untuk membawa monyet kepada istrinya.

Keesokan harinya, buaya diundang monyet untuk bergabung dengan mereka untuk makan siang dan meminta makanan favorit nya. Monyet bahagia setuju untuk menjadi tamu tetapi khawatir bahwa monyet tidak tahu bagaimana untuk berenang di danau.

Buaya  berpikir tentang kesedihan monyet, monyet dengan gembira dan berkata kepadanya, ‘ jangan khawatir. Aku akan membawa Anda di punggung saya dan akan membawa Anda kembali dengan aman !’

Monyet diterima dan buaya naik dia ke rumahnya di punggungnya di atas air. Mereka mencapai setengah jalan, buaya berusaha menekan monyet ke dalam air. Namun, monyet berpegangan erat dan tidak jatuh. Monyet  curiga tentang undang-undang buaya dan memintanya untuk mengatakan kebenaran.

Sejak buaya percaya dia sebagai sahabat–Nya, ia menceritakan percakapan bersama istrinya yang akan memakan hatinya

Monyet cerdas berkata, ‘ Oh teman ku sayang, Anda harus nya mengatakan kepada saya sebelumnya. Aku meninggalkan hatiku di salah satu cabang-cabang pohon karena saya tidak akan membawa itu jika saya melakukan perjalanan panjang. Jika Anda membawa saya kembali, saya dapat memberikan hati saya.’

Buaya terima dan monyet naik kembali ke danau. Mereka mencapai pohon tempat tinggal monyet, monyet naik dengan cepat dan melarikan diri dari buaya.

Dia berteriak buaya, ‘ saya pikir Anda sebagai teman yang baik, tetapi Anda menipu saya. Saya tidak akan pernah datang kembali dan tidak pernah menjadi teman Anda.’

Buaya memahami kesalahannya dan pulang dengan tangan kosong, ia kehilangan teman baiknya.

Cerita 11

The Eagle Who Lived Like a Hen

In a forest an eagle lived on a tree. It had built a nest wherein to lay its eggs. There the eagle would hatch its eggs all through the day.

Under the same tree there lived a hen. The hen had also laid eggs during the same period when the eagle had laid its eggs.

One day, while the eagle had gone for hunting, a bear climbed up the tree to eat the eagle’s eggs. The bear had finished three of the eggs when the fourth one slipped off its hands and fell into the hen’s nest. On returning, the eagle could not find her eggs. Feeling terribly upset, she decided to leave the place.

The hen which lived under the tree saw the eagle’s egg by the side of her eggs. She felt eggs pity on the eagle’s egg, and decided to hatch it too. After a few days, the hen’s chicks hatched. The eagle’s chick hatched, too.

The hen would feed all the chicks, including the eagle’s chick, as if it were her own. Soon the chicks began to grow.

The young chicks would listen to their mother’s sounds and try to imitate her. The eagle’s chick also picked up the hen’s sounds. The chicks would all play together and make lots of noise.

Within no time the hen’s chicks as well as the eagle’s chick grew up to their full size. The eagle’s chick never realized that it was an eagle and not a hen. Considering itself a hen, the eagle would. eat hen’s food, would walk and run like other hens and would make sounds like hens. The eagle never learnt to fly like other eagles and lived its whole life like a hen only.

Di hutan elang tinggal di sebuah pohon. Ia telah membangun sarang  untuk meletakkan telurnya. Ada elang akan menetas telurnya sepanjang hari.

Di bawah pohon yang sama hiduplah ayam. Ayam juga telah meletakkan telur selama periode yang sama ketika elang telah meletakkan telurnya.

Suatu hari, saat elang telah pergi untuk berburu, beruang memanjat pohon dan mengambil telur elang. Beruang telah selesai memakan tiga telur dan sisa satu kemudian ia menyelinap pergi telur yag ia bawa jatuh ke dalam sarang ayam. saat kembali, elang tidak bisa menemukan telurnya. Merasa sangat kecewa, dia memutuskan untuk meninggalkan tempat itu.

Ayam yang hidup di bawah pohon melihat telur elang di sisi telurnya. Dia merasa kasihan dengan telur elang, dan memutuskan untuk menetasinya . Setelah beberapa hari, ayam anak ayam menetas. begitu juga dengan telur elang.

Ayam pun memberi makan semua anak ayam termasuk anak elang seolah-olah anaknya sendiri, anak ayam pun mulai tumbuh.

Ayam muda akan mendengarkan suara ibu mereka dan mencoba untuk menirunya. anak elang pun mencobanya. Anak ayam pun bermain bersama dan membuat banyak kebisingan.

Dalam waktu singkat ayam ayam serta anak elang dibesarkan untuk ukuran penuh mereka. anak elang tidak pernah menyadari bahwa dia adalah sebuah elang dan bukan ayam. ia pun mempertimbangkan dirinya seperti ayam. Elang tidak pernah belajar untuk terbang seperti elang lain dan menghabiskan seluruh hidupnya seperti ayam

Cerita 12

The Cows and The Lion

There was a village near a jungle. The village cows used to go up to the jungle in search of food.

In the forest there lived a wicked lion. He used to kill a cow now and then and eat her. This was happening for quite sometime. The cows were frightened.

One day, all the cows held a meeting. An old cow said, “Listen everybody, the lion eats one of us only because we go into the jungle separately. From now on we will all be together”.

From then on all the cows went into the jungle in a herd. When they heard or saw the lion all of them unitedly moo and chased him away.

Ada sebuah desa dekat hutan. Sapi desa yang digunakan untuk pergi ke hutan untuk mencari makanan.

Di hutan hiduplah singa jahat. Ia digunakan untuk membunuh sapi kemudian Memakan nya. Ini terjadi sangat sering sehingga. Sapi  ketakutan.

Suatu hari, Semua sapi mengadakan pertemuan. Sapi tua berkata, “kata semua orang, singa makan salah satu dari kita hanya karena kita pergi ke dalam hutan secara terpisah. Sekarang kita semua akan bersama-sama”.

Dari semua sapi pergi ke hutan di kawanan. Ketika mereka mendengar atau melihat singa mereka semua berkata moo dan mengusir nya.

Cerita 13

The Crow and The Eagle

There lived a crow on a tree top. Everyday he used to watch with utter wonder the acts of an eagle.

The eagle had a nest high up on a mountain. He used to swoop down from there to get hold of a lamb and fly up again and all in one go.

The crow was amazed by the feat of the eagle.

One day he was so excited that he wanted to imitate the eagle. So up he flew as high as he could. From there he began to swoop down. He came down and down. But alas, he could not control himself. He crashed on the ground and broke his beak.

Hiduplah gagak di atas pohon. Setiap hari ia digunakan untuk menonton dengan mengucapkan heran tindakan elang.

Elang memiliki sarang tinggi di gunung. Ia digunakan untuk menukik dari sana untuk mendapatkan seekor domba dan terbang lagi dan terus seperti itu

Gagak kagum dengan prestasi elang.

Suatu hari ia  begitu gembira bahwa ia ingin meniru elang. Jadi ia terbang tinggi sebisanya. Dari sana ia mulai menukik. Dia datang turun. Tapi sayangnya, dia tidak bisa mengendalikan diri. Ia jatuh pada tanah dan pecah paruhnya.

Cerita 14

The Cat and The Fox

A cat and a fox were once discussing about hounds.

The cat said, “I hate hounds. They are very nasty animals. They hunt and kill us”.

The fox said, “I hate hounds more than you”. .

The cat asked, “How do you save yourself from hounds?”

The fox replied, “There are many tricks to get away from hounds”.

The cat asked “Can you say what your tricks are?”

“They are very simple”, said the fox. He added, “I can hide behind thick bushes. I can run along thorny hedges. I can hide in burrows. There are many more such tricks”.

Now it was the turn of the fox to ask the cat about her tricks.

The fox asked, “How many tricks do you know?”

The cat replied, “I know just one trick”.

The Fox sneered, “Oh! How sad! You know only one trick? What is your trick?”

The cat was about to answer. But, she found a flock of hounds fast approach. She said, “I am going to do it now. Because the hounds are coming”.

Saying these words, the cat ran up a nearby tree safe from the hounds. The fox tried all his tricks but the hounds out beat him. “My one trick is better than all his tricks”, said the cat to herself.

Kucing dan rubah sekali membahas tentang hounds.

Kucing berkata, “Aku benci hounds. Mereka adalah hewan yang sangat jahat. Mereka berburu dan membunuh kita”.

Rubah berkata, “Aku benci hounds lebih dari Anda”. .

Kucing bertanya, “Bagaimana Anda menyimpan diri dari hounds?”

Rubah menjawab, “Ada banyak trik untuk mendapatkan dari hounds”.

Kucing bertanya “Bisakah Anda katakan apa  trik Anda?”

“Mereka sangat sederhana”, kata fox. Dia menambahkan, “saya dapat bersembunyi di balik semak-semak tebal. Saya dapat bersembunyi di Liang. Ada banyak trik lagi “.

Sekarang gantian rubah yang bertanya pada trik kucing

Rubah bertanya, “berapa trik yang  Anda tahu?”

Kucing menjawab, “Aku tahu hanya salah satu trik”.

Rubah sneered, “Oh! Betapa menyedihkan! Anda tahu hanya salah satu trik? Apakah trik Anda?”

Kucing hendak menjawab. Tapi, ia menemukan kawanan hounds pendekatan cepat. Dia berkata, “Aku akan melakukannya sekarang. Karena hounds datang”.

Mengatakan kata-kata ini, kucing berlari menuju sebuah pohon yang aman dari hounds. Rubah mencoba semua trik tetapi hounds keluar memukulnya. “Saya adalah salah satu trik yang lebih baik daripada semua trik”, kata kucing untuk dirinya sendiri.

Cerita 15

The Dog and The Cows

The cows used to eat hay from the manger. One day a herd of cows came to the manger to eat hay. They saw a dog lying on the hay in the manger.

One of the cows pleaded, “Please, will you get up! We are hungry. We have to eat our hay”. The dog did not take heed of it.

Once again another cow pleaded, “Please, let us have our hay”. The dog snarled and the cow stepped back.

A wise cow ran up to the bull and told him the matter.

The bull came and requested, “Get out, please! Let them have their food”. There was no reply. The bull became angry. He bellowed loudly and stamped his legs. The dog got frightened and ran for his life.

Sapi yang digunakan untuk makan jerami dari palungan. Satu hari kawanan sapi datang ke palungan untuk makan jerami. Mereka melihat seekor anjing yang berbaring di atas jerami di dalam palungan.

Salah satu sapi memohon, “Silakan, engkau akan bangun! Kami sangat lapar. Kita harus makan jerami kami”. Anjing tidak mengambil pelajaran dari itu.

Sekali lagi memohon sapi yang lain, “Tolong, beritahu kami memiliki jerami kami”. Anjing geram dan sapi melangkah kembali.

Sapi bijaksana berlari ke lembu jantan dan menyuruhnya masalah.

Banteng datang dan meminta, “keluar, silakan! Biarkan mereka memiliki makanan mereka”. Ada tidak ada jawaban. Lembu jantan menjadi marah. Dia berteriak keras dan dicap kakinya. Anjing mendapat ketakutan dan berlari untuk hidupnya.

Cerita 16

The Dog and The Donkey

There lived a dog and a donkey in a house of a rich man. The dog guarded his house and the donkey carried loads for him.

It was a hot afternoon. The dog was sleeping under the shady veranda. There was some noise outside. The dog just lifted up his head and went back to sleep.

The donkey asked, “Why don’t you bark. It could be thieves”. The dog replied, “Mind your own business”. But the donkey would not listen. He wanted to save his master from thieves. He started to bray.

The master who was sound asleep got wild with the donkey and came running out with a stick and gave hard beatings to the donkey.

Hiduplah seekor anjing dan seekor keledai di rumah orang kaya. Anjing menjaga rumahnya dan keledai yang membawa beban baginya.

Pada suatu sore yang panas. Anjing sedang tidur di bawah Beranda yg teduh. Ada beberapa kebisingan di luar. Anjing hanya mengangkat kepalanya dan kembali tidur.

Keledai bertanya, “Mengapa tidak Anda lihat. Ini bisa menjadi pencuri”. Anjing menjawab, “Pikiran bisnis Anda sendiri”. Tetapi keledai tidak mau mendengarkan. Dia ingin menyelamatkan tuannya dari pencuri. Dia mulai bergerak.

Pemiliknya yang sedang tidur terkejut karena keledai dan kemudian memukulnya dengan sebuah tongkat.

Cerita 17

The Dove and The Ant

Once, a dove saw an ant struggling in the water. He took pity on the ant and threw down a leaf. The ant climbed on to the leaf and reached the shore safely. After some days, the ant saw the hunter aiming an arrow at the dove flying above. He wanted to save the dove. So, he bit the hunter’s leg. The hunter missed his aim and the dove flew safely.

Sekali, Merpati melihat semut berjuang di dalam air. Dia kasihan semut dan merobohkan daun. Semut naik pada daun dan mencapai pantai dengan aman. Setelah beberapa hari, semut melihat pemburu bertujuan panah Merpati terbang di atas. Dia ingin menyelamatkan burung merpati. Jadi, ia sedikit pemburu kaki. Pemburu kehilangan tujuannya dan Merpati terbang dengan aman.

Cerita 18

The Foolish Donkey

A salt seller used to carry the salt bag on his donkey to the market every day. On the way they had to cross a stream. One day the donkey suddenly tumbled down the stream and the salt bag also fell into the water. The salt dissolved in the water and hence the bag became very light to carry. The donkey was happy.

Then the donkey started to play the same trick every day. The salt seller came to understand the trick and decided to teach a lesson to it. The next day he loaded a cotton bag on the donkey. Again it played the same trick hoping that the cotton bag would be still become lighter.

But the dampened cotton became very heavy to carry and it suffered much. It learnt a lesson. Afterwards it did not play the trick and the seller was happy.
